Meet Jaffar

Jaffar Seid is Public Relations of Gadab Foundation

Born in a small town called Assassa, in Oromia, Jaffar came to the United States in 1997. He attended high school in St.Paul, MN. After completing his high school with excellent academic performance, Jaffar enrolled in CCA. Jaffar recently moved to Portland, Oregon. He is currently attending Portland State University where he is majoring in Business Administration.

After completing his degree, he plans to continue working for the company that he is currently employed. He also wants to own his own business in the future. Jaffar is hardworking, motivated and honest person. “I like to be honest with people because honesty describes who you are as a person. If I promised something, I would do it.”

Throughout his high school years Jaffar worked full time supporting his relatives and friends back home. Helping others indeed has always been his biggest dream. He says, “ coming to America is not just about living a better life yourself, it’s about helping those who need your help the most. In fact, it is this philosophy that has motivated Jaffar to become a great leader in Gadab Foundation program. Motivated by his potential to make a difference in other people’s lives, Jafar believes that, “ If you can dream it, you cant do it.”

After accomplishing his academic goals, Jaffar wants to help his people by creating a job opportunities through his personal business. He says, “My dream is to open a business that would benefit my people. I believe that I can create an environment where my Oromo people can work and have a decent life.” Furthermore, Jaffar wants to establish an internship opportunity for students who are planning to pursue a career in business.

Jaffar’s favorite quote is: “Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination are omnipotent. ”. (Calvin Coolidge)
